A Motorway pile-up kills three, injures 33 in Hungary

A MOTORWAY pile-up killed three Romanians and injured 33 other people, including Bulgarians, Serbs and Turks early Friday close to the Hungarian capital Budapest, authorities say.
A truck, three minibuses and five cars collided on the M5 motorway -- a busy route linking central and southeastern Europe -- 25 kilometres (16 miles) southeast of Budapest, police said.
Romania's Foreign Ministry said the three deceased were Romanian nationals, two men and a woman.
"One of the minibuses involved in the accident was travelling from Galati (eastern Romania) to Milan (Italy), carrying 19 passengers and two drivers, all Romanians," it added.
The ministry noted that first accounts indicated a Bulgarian-registered truck had crashed at speed into the back of the minibus as it slowed to a halt in increasing traffic approaching Budapest.
Eighteen people were seriously injured and at least six were in a critical condition, nearby hospitals said.
The injured included Bulgarian, Hungarian, Serbian, and Turkish citizens, as well as Romanians, according to police.
