Huddah Gives Her Two Cents On Skin Bleaching!

In Africa the use of skin bleaching products is becoming an increasingly widespread phenomenon despite the risk associated with it. Harmful ingredients such as mercurous chloride and hydroquinone have been found in bleaching products.

According to nairaland.com Hydroquinone, reduces the skin's natural protection against damaging ultraviolet (UV) radiation as it suppresses the production of melanin, this has a hazardous effect. Apart from being carcinogenic the chemical penetrates the skin and causes irreversible damage to connective tissue resulting to premature aging.

Continuous use of such products can cause disfiguring rashes, unsightly blotches And if the chemicals in some of the these cosmetics are absorbed into the bloodstream, they can cause damage to the liver, the kidneys, or the brain-even causing organ failure.

In Kenya, one of the top musicians Brenda of the mos-mos fame has been accused of bleaching something which she has neither denied or accepted. Huddah, one of Kenya's top socialites and BBA The Chase representative had this to say about bleaching: “But gals who bleach their skin are not normal…”
